Emily Gates is a doctoral student in Educational Psychology with a focus in Evaluation. She work at the I-STEM Education Initiative where she conducts program evaluations of a K-12 entrepreneurial teacher leadership program and a summer institute for international high school teachers. Prior to graduate school, she worked as a classroom counselor and teacher for high school students who had experienced severe abuse, trauma, and/or neglect in San Leandro, CA. Her interest in youth stems from a concern about the rise of youth in the juvenile justice system and a commitment to schools, programs, and spaces that support the social and emotional development of youth.
